Submissions must be entered by March 31 for a new annual £5,000 prize for the best English-language travel book written by a woman.

The Ilse Schwepcke Prize was set up in memory of the director at Haus Publishing, a champion of travel writing and a feminist. Honouring her roots in both Germany and the UK, a sister prize will present €6,000 to the woman writer of the best travel book in German. Two short lists will be announced in September and the prizes awarded at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.
