Philip Marsden’s new book, Under A Metal Sky, in which he journeys from tin mines near his home in Cornwall to gold mines in the mountains of Georgia, will be published next week. In the Big Issue magazine, he says that the rocks and metals we discovered in the ground beneath our feet have “altered our species forever”. It’s a story, he argues, “worthy of Greek myth or tragedy”.
