Nature-writing festival at Gilbert White’s House

Some of Britain’s best-known nature writers will be contributing to the annual Natural History Book Day next month (March 21) at the home of their 18th- century predecessor Gilbert White in Selborne, Hampshire. On the bill for the festival are Nicola Chester, Tiffany Francis-Baker, Melissa Harrison, Tristan Gooley, James Harding-Morris, Peter Marren and Nic Wilson. The day will end with a talk by the photographer Anne-Katrin Purkiss about her exhibition and book, South Downs: Lives in a Landscape, featuring portraits of people who have a deep connection to the area. She began the project in 2002 and completed it last year.
