Delighted to see that Tom Parfitt has been shortlisted for the RSL Christopher Bland Prize — an annual award of £10,000 given to a debut novelist or non-fiction writer first published at the age of 50 or over — for High Caucasus, his account of his walk through the Caucasus region after witnessing the school siege at Beslan. The winner will be announced on July 10.
