I’m currently reading a proof of How to Travel Without Seeing, a jet-paced tour of Latin America by the Argentine-Spanish writer Andrés Neuman that’s due to be published by Restless Books at the end of August. On arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he says: “I read through recent works by local authors, the shortest line between curiosity and knowledge about a place.”
I couldn’t agree more. If you’re heading this summer to one of the destinations most popular with British travellers, and you want to read yourself in, have a look at the guide I compiled with the help of Telegraph Travel‘s resident experts.
