Clare Hammond’s On the Shadow Tracks, which I mentioned yesterday, was one of six books short-listed last night for Travel Book of the Year in the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards. The other five are: Black Ghosts by Noo Saro-Wiwa; Slow Trains to Istanbul by Tom Chesshyre; The Place of Tides by James Rebanks; Wayfarer by Phoebe Smith; and Wild Twin by Jeff Young.
Short lists were also announced for the Viking Award for Fiction with a Sense of Place and Children’s Travel Book of the Year. The short list for the Bradt New Travel Writer of the Year will be announced in January.
