Walking with writers in Suffolk

In Walking Pepys’s London (2022), the writer and editor Jacky Colliss Harvey explored the places that made England’s best-known diarist. In her latest book, published this week, she returns to the county of her birthplace. Thoughtlands: Walking in Writers’ Suffolk (Haus, £14.99) is, her publisher says, a book “about the circuit that exists between mind and feet, and about landscapes that exist both physically in front of you and in a line of words”. As she travels across the country, Colliss Harvey is kept company by writers from Daniel Defoe and Robert Louis Stevenson to Patricia Highsmith, PD James, Ronald Blythe and Ruth Rendell.
