In the week that Hurricane Milton — intensified by climate change — hit Florida, The New Yorker had a piece from Greenland by Elizabeth Kolbert on the shrinking of the ice sheet, and what that means for the rest of the Earth. While humans have helped accelerate global warming and changing weather patterns, she says, “Much of the new science suggests that the climate is, all on its own, unstable, prone to dramatic and sometimes sudden shifts.”
