Follow the swallows with Roger Deakin

I was away last week and so far have had time to read only one article from the latest issue of Five Dials, the excellent online  magazine from Hamish Hamilton. It’s a previously unpublished piece by Roger Deakin (author of Waterlog and Wildwood) on how swallows prompted his own serial migrations to the South of France. This issue, Number 36, guest-edited by Robert Macfarlane and his publisher Simon Prosser, also has previously unpublished writing by JA Baker (author of The Peregrine) and Nan Shepherd (The Living Mountain) and new artwork by Stanley Donwood. You can download it free from the Five Dials site.
