The Highland Book Prize, which celebrates “the finest published work that is created in or about the Highlands and Islands of Scotland”, has been awarded to the Shetland journalist Jen Stout for Night Train to Odesa: Covering the Human Cost of Russia’s War (Birlinn). The book, Stout’s debut, had already won her the Saltire Society First Book of the Year Award; it was also short-listed for the Royal Society of Literature’s Ondaatje Prize and chosen as a Radio 4 Book of the Week.
