Night-walking with Duncan Minshull and Co

Duncan Minshull, who was a BBC radio producer for many years, has since become Britain’s most prolific celebrant of the joys of travelling on two feet. Having edited three successful anthologies for Notting Hill Editions — Beneath My Feet, Sauntering and Globetrotting — he will next month be offering us a fourth, on night-walking. Drawing on journals, letters, travelogues and diaries, ranging from the 1600s to the present day, The Indigo Hours (Notting Hill Editions, £15.99, November 10) “records journeys made on urban streets, as well as in the wilds of nature; at twilight; through moonlight and towards dawn”. It has contributions from writers including Rachel Carson, Charles Dickens, Franz Kafka, Joanna Kavenna, George Orwell, Kate Pullinger, W G Sebald and Virginia Woolf.
