In the Financial Times at the weekend, Oliver Smith, in an extract from his new book, On This Holy Island, reported from the Gower Peninsula on what may be Europe’s earliest site of pilgrimage.

In The Observer, Alex Clark reviewed Esther Rutter’s All Before Me, which tells of a year spent at Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage following a breakdown. It is, Clark says, a “revivifying blend of memoir, literary history and travelogue”.
