Roads less travelled

Here are a couple of reports on journeys you don’t often read about, one in Alaska, one in Mexico.

Alan Feuer, for The New York Times, drove the Dalton Highway through the far north of Alaska because the urge was on him to be alone and the Dalton is one of the emptiest roads in America.

Feike de Jong, a Dutch journalist, wanted to get a sense of the true size and complexity of Mexico City, so he set out (much as Iain Sinclair did with the English capital in London Orbital) to walk around it. The journey took him 51 days, and he’s now writing a book about it. The Guardian has published an extract from his diary.
