Travel writing at November’s festivals

Speakers at the Bridport Literary Festival (Nov 8-15; bridlit.com), in Dorset, will include Patrick Barkham, author of Coastlines: The Story of Our ShoreHarry Mount, talking about Harry Mount’s Odyssey: Ancient Greece in the Footsteps of  Odysseus; and James Rebanks, author of A Shepherd’s Life: A Tale of the Lake District.

At the Cambridge Literary Festival (Nov 28-29; cambridgeliteraryfestival.com), Simon Armitage, whose Walking Away recounts his journey along the South West Coast Path, discusses poetry and personal odysseys with Robert Macfarlane, author most recently of Landmarks.

At the Folkestone Book Festival (Nov 20-29; folkestonebookfest.com),  speakers will include Simon Bradley, author of The Railways: Nation, Network and People, and Tom Fort, author of Channel Shore: From the White Cliffs to Land’s End.

Linda Cracknell, author of Walking Back, an account of journeys made in the footsteps of others, will speak at the Tarbert Book Festival, Argyll and Bute  (Nov 27-29; tarbertbookfestival.org).

Hilary Bradt, founder of Bradt Travel Guides, will be speaking about “Wild adventures and extreme publishing” at the Taunton Literary Festival (Nov 7-28; tauntonliteraryfestival.net).
