A month ago, Nick Hunt, who is best known for his his travel books (Walking the Woods and the Water; Where the Wild Winds Are), published his debut novel, Red Smoking Mirror (you can read an extract from the first chapter in The London Magazine). Fiction, he said in a recent piece for The Irish Times, was always his first love, but the novel wouldn’t have been possible without the real journeys he had made.
